Become a Trainer
HKLB Cadre Qualifications
Cadre trainers will have had at least three years experience providing technical assistance and training to Oregon's educators. Cadre trainers have extensive knowledge in the field of health and/or physical education due to professional development events for their own growth and learning each year.
A Bachelor and preferably Masters or related degree in the field of elementary education, school health, public health, physical education, school counseling, school nursing, kinesiology, social work or related field.
AND
Two years of work experience teaching to or training on the National or Oregon Health Education Standards and National and/or Oregon Physical Education Standards to support school health and physical education needs.
2010-2011 Cadre Expectations:
- Facilitate a minimum of one training during 2009-10 school year
- Complete the Rocky Mountain Center Training of Trainers, September 22 - 23, 2009 in Portland (no stipend provided, but mileage paid if over 70 miles from your home)
- Participate at two one-day cadre meetings and one two-day retreat.
- Retreat: October 23 - 24, 2010 in Lincoln City (paid)
- Winter one-day meeting: date TBD at retreat
- Spring one-day meeting: date TBD at retreat
- Prior to leading your first training for specific curriculum:
- Attend a curriculum training as a participant (unpaid)
- Co-train with a cadre member who is a trainer of the specific curriculum (paid)
- Follow Cadre training guidelines and effective practices for training:
- Follow cadre training agenda
- Administer evaluations
- Participant sign-in sheet
- Return all training kits, materials and completed participant evaluations and sign-in sheets in a timely manner.
- Payment Guidelines
- For curriculum trainings, HECAT and S+A trainings: $150 prep time and either $350 per day or substitute pay covered
- For presentations and day trainings: $200 per day (includes prep time)
- Travel expenses are reimbursed when training is further than 70 miles from your home including lodging, per diem (meals) and transportation
- The first year of Cadre membership is a probationary year. Periodic performance reviews will be conducted by the Cadre coordinators.
Become a Funder or Partner

The HKLB Cadre holds an annual meeting with organizations and agencies interested in contracting with us to provide trainings to school and district staff in Oregon or offering support in other ways.
